High-Performance Image Tracing

Convert your blurry JPG or PNG files into infinitely scalable vectors. Our JPG to SVG Converter uses a client-side algorithm to analyze color layers and curve geometry to rebuild your image using SVG `<path>` data. Perfect for recreating logos, extracting line art, or turning photos into stylized illustrations.

What "Vectorizing" an Image Really Does

A normal photo is a grid of pixels, so when you enlarge it, those pixels stretch and the image turns soft and blocky. Vectorizing — also called tracing — rebuilds the picture out of mathematical shapes and curves instead of pixels. The result can scale to any size and stay razor-sharp, whether it ends up on a business card or a banner. The trade-off is that tracing works best on simple, high-contrast images. Logos, icons, silhouettes, and bold line art convert beautifully because they have clear edges and a limited palette. A detailed photograph with soft gradients and thousands of colors is much harder to trace cleanly, and often looks more like a stylized poster than an exact copy — which can actually be a fun effect if that is what you want.

Common Uses for JPG to SVG Conversion

The most popular reason to vectorize is to rescue a logo. If all you have is a small, pixelated JPG of a brand mark, tracing it back into an SVG gives you a clean version you can resize for a website header, a print flyer, or an embroidered shirt without it ever looking fuzzy. Designers also use it to pull line art out of sketches, create cut-ready files for vinyl cutters and laser engravers, and turn simple graphics into lightweight SVGs that load fast on the web. After converting, you can open the SVG in any vector editor to recolor or refine the paths. Everything is processed locally in your browser, so your images are never sent to a server.

Frequently Asked Questions

Vectorizing (or Image Tracing) analyzes the pixels in a standard image (like PNG) and turns them into mathematical paths. This allows the new SVG image to be infinitely zoomed or printed at any size without losing quality.
Analyzing and tracing millions of pixels takes a massive amount of computer processing. To prevent your browser from freezing, we limit uploads to 5MB. We recommend cropping your image or downscaling it before uploading.
"Default" works best for simple logos and icons. If you have a photograph, "Posterized" or "Detailed" will yield a stylized artistic look. "Black & White" is perfect for line art or signatures.
No. The advanced math required to trace the image happens entirely inside your internet browser using HTML5 Canvas. We do not store or see your images.
